Getting in shape

Well, Im going to need some encouragement girls. As you read in my new years resolutions I want to eat healthier and lose my baby weight. So my husband gave me some motivation. He will give me $500 if I lose 22 lbs. I dont have to spend it on anyone else. Acutally he told me I couldnt. I dont really have a date set but Im still thinking about it. But I am determined to do it. So I have started to change my eating habits and I have an appointment with a personal trainer just to give me some basics. So If any of you have any tips or ideas I am open to suggestions. Thanks girls.

Wow, $500 would motivate me! Now if I can only find someone to offer me the money ;) Good luck Amelia, I would just say to give yourself a realistic date, not too soon and not too far off. Bless you!

I think it took me about 3-4 months to lose my weight after Johnny. What gym are you going to?
I have wrote A LOT about weight loss, diet and exercise on my blog so I won't go over all that again but I will say I firmly believe that for ME....losing weight was like 95% about diet. Although...there is nothing like running to start shedding some pounds!! :)
My last tip....Cut out sugar and all white carbs. Eat a lot of LEAN meats, veggies, non-fat dairy and 100% whole grain/whole wheat foods. And eat as much lean meat and veggies as you want! No portion control needed there. :)

(And have Darren have a talk with Erik about money! That sounds VERY motivating!)

What a neat husband! That is great motivation. I have dieted and exercised my entire life it seems. For me its 50/50. I love to eat so its hard to not eat, thats why I like to exercise too. I think calorie counting is a huge thing. So many things are non fat or low in fat but the calories are really high. I was reading an article once that said that many people who are in great shape keep "eating diaries". That way you know what you are consuming on a daily basis. There is a website called calorie-count.com and you can find the calorie content for any food. My other suggestion is to just keep moving. Someone once said take at least 10,000 steps a day. I dont know if you live in a walking friendly area but taking a walk with the kids is a good idea. I really like pilates and running but I realize everyone has their different tastes. My other suggestion is to not keep your self from having treats once in a while. It just gets to hard to never treat yourself. My big thing is to eat well during the week and then treat myself a few times on the weekend. You will find your grove....just figure it out. Chicken on the George Foreman grill is so good and chicken is low fat and so good for you. Like Jessica said, whole grains and veggies and fruit are a huge asset. Stay away from premade food, canned veggies etc....fresh is expensive but its the best way to go for long term weight loss and its definately better for your health. Sorry, I have said a lot :) Your going to do awesome and definately keep us updated on your progress!

You can do it Amelia! Don't become obsessive. Enjoy a treat once in awhile and give yourself time! You want something that you can make a lifestyle, not just a diet. You're beautiful just as you are, but I know all of us ladies feel better at our ideal weight.

I'm telling you Amelia...You need to read the book "The Detox Diet" by Bruce Fife. I lost 45 pounds in less then 5 months and I didn't even excersise. I highly recomend excersise becuase it good for you but you don't have to count on that to loose your weight. If you are eating the right foods you can eat until your satisfied and still loose weight. You'll be amazed at what you will find in this book. Let me know if you read it and what you think.

I'm right there with ya, girl! I've got about 20 lbs. to go, too! I didn't do anything for the first 4 months and now I'm working hard at it. I do a spin class 3 times a week and walk every day that i don't do that. and I'm trying to eat right (so hard!) mainly low sugar, low carb and lots of fresh stuff and protein. I pulled out some honeymoon pictures to motivate me on what I want to look like again - although, I doubt I'll ever be the same! You can do it! We can do it! p.s. your kids are adorable!
